Eastbourne Ladies 1s travelled to Southampton for a hard fought score draw

1 year ago By Adrian Newton

Eastbourne Ladies 1s travelled to Southampton and had a cracking start to the game scoring in the first minute with a superb counter attack.

Captain Rosie Sharp played an excellent ball out of defence and a quick one two between the strikers set up Tash Gale and the rebound fell to Jane Parkinson to give Eastbourne the lead.
Eastbourne piled on the pressure in the first half and created lots of chances but Southampton defended resolutely, scrambling the ball off the line a couple of times.

Tash Gale extended Eastbourne’s lead in the second half but then Southampton rallied hard and drew a goal back from a penalty flick. Both teams worked hard, particularly in midfield and Eastbourne defended well as Southampton pushed for an equaliser. Goalkeeper Vicky Watson made a great save from an excellent Southampton strike, but unfortunately could not keep the rebound out. With 4 minutes to play, both teams pushed to win the game but the final result was 2-2.
