After a sharp looking warm up Eastbourne were immediately on the back foot as Holcombe came out the block with a high press and a high amount of pressure looking to squeeze the Eastbourne defence. However after 10 minutes the game settled and Eastbourne began to work back, eventually breaking through the Holcombe defence and winning a corner which was converted moments later by Mark Adelston with a cool bottom corner finish.
Soon after Matthew Robinson made it two with another clinical finish drawing the half to an end with Eastbourne 2 goals to the good. The 2nd half started more in Eastbourne favour with Jamie Francis cutting through the defence before having a shot stopped on the line by a defender and a penalty Flick given.
Steve Perry stepped up before calmly placing the ball in the top corner. Holcombe however turned the tables and after placing the pressure back on their opponents converted 2 corners in quick succession bringing the visitors within touching distance much to the Eastbourne coach and injured captains dismay. Nearing the end of the game Jamie Francis made the score 4-2 before quickly deflecting a clever ball into the D from Steve Perry making it 5-2.
Holcombe with their final attack managed to win another corner and in due fashion converted it after a glancing deflection drawing the game to an end with a 5-3 victory to Eastbourne. The winners remain top of their league and undefeated.
